Last Day
Tonight...was my last day of work at More Than Movies.
Damn.
I started working there, for work experience credit, in April of 2003. It's been a long 3 1/2 years of working there with the movies. I mean hell, what kind of 18 year old has held the same job for 3 years?
To celebrate, and mourn, our quitting, Nicole and I had a mini party at the store. I made giant posters that said "Megan and Nicole's Last Day" on them, and hung them in the doors. I also made up glass jars that said "Megan and Nicole's University Funds" and stuck them next to the tills. Overall, Nicole and I ended up getting over $50 from regular customers who donated their change to us! I was thrilled, and a little overwhelmed.
When Nicole got in, we had party hats and noise makers. We wore multiple party hats, hung out, I ordered some pizza. It was surprisingly busy, but we managed to get through it. At 7:30, I shut down the popcorn (only 2 1/2 hours early...haha). Jenny bought us cake, which we ate. However, after she bought us cake, she became a bitch. Every time we went a little lax on something, like not making very much popcorn or being slow about the returns, she started rambling about how we shouldn't get her in trouble just because it was our last night. She's an idiot and is also the only person that I'm NOT going to miss at that store.
The customers tonight were SO nice! Because of the posters, everyone was asking which one of us was Megan and which was Nicole. Most of them wanted to know why we were leaving, and when I told them we were going to UVic, they all told us congratulations and wished us well. Some of them put money in our little jars, others offered advice. I had one man shake my hand lol. Even the snotty teenagers were surprisingly interested what was happening to us. It was very refreshing.
In turn, I asked for no late charges or account balances, because I just...couldn't bring myself to demand more money from them. It was actually a lovely evening (minus the Jenny)
My parents came in and my dad surprised Nicole and I with pretty much a lifetime supply of chocolate bars hahaha. My brother and Stef came in, and they took some pictures of Nicole and I being idiots. VANESSA came in she's my favorite ever and we made sure to get a picture with her.
I'm going to miss the movie store...as much as I hate to admit it. It's been a big part of my everyday life for years, and now it's gone. Plah.
So ends one chapter. So begins another.
In other news...I tried to send off a student loan thing today...but apparently the post office in Woodgrove isn't big enough. So my mom and I wandered the mall. I bought a new shirt with my gift certificate, and yea. My mom tried to find a skirt in Reitman's...but she was not lucky.
Akward!
So we were heading towards Reitmans, and I was like "last time I heard, Janelle was working at Reitmans...that would be really akward if she was there and I haven't told mom we're not talking yet."
So pretty much I just turned to my mom and was like "P.S...if Janelle's working...we're not speaking anymore." And my mom was like "Really?...oh. K...well...thanks for the heads up."
But Janelle wasn't working, so we had no trouble. One of the lady's working in the changeroom though mentioned that Janelle quit to another employee, which is cool that I won't have to run into her. Irk.
I'm so happy to be getting out of Nanaimo...
I should go to bed now. I have a wedding to go to tomorrow...should be fun.
